This is the 17th feature film from Academy Award-nominated writer-director John Sayles, which stars my favorite Filipino actor Joel Torre.He plays the roel of Rafael, a village mayor who was caught in the crossfire of the Philippine-American War. When the U.S. occupied his village, Rafael was pressured to help the Americans hunting for Filipino guerillas. But Rafael's brother,played by another exquisite actor,Ronnie Lazaro, heads the local guerillas group.Parallelto F.sionil jose's My Brother, My Executioner story line. This is indeed a powerful film about patriotism,service, betrayal and trust. Amigo is truly about FRIENDSHIP and the conflicts it entails.
