This Journal will Actually Change your Life as it did with mine

Last year I got this JOURNAL for FREE. I was supposed to do a comparison with it and Starbuck's "leather-covered-collect-the-stickers-to-get-one-thingy" but hey, it's incomparable! As I say it, if you are looking for a 2010 journal, here's the tip: for a certified coffee lover ,wanting to know the history and nitty gritty of coffee, go get Starbucks's (FYI, they look the same as Free Speech's now so no more leather covers to go gaga with) But if you believe there's more to life, then Grab The Journal that Actually Changed my Life for 2010! Powerbooks and Fully Booked are "the stores" for journal hunting!

I never thought my 2009 pages will be so used up. As a hands on mom of four boys, I'm a very busy one indeed. I need to schedule everything: daily routines, visits to their pediatrician, even create here their immunization chart(written at the back) , write each of their school activities and books to bring for the day, then plan on our budget allocation and grocery list etc!!

So when I started on January's pages, I got so hooked that I kept writing. I ended up using all spaces of its pages. Jotting down things to do, to accomplish, goals for a week, dreams for the month, parenting seminar dialogues, SMS greetings ,huh, almost anything at those small spaces I could find.

This Journal Actually Changed my Life for 2009. It introduced me to international celebrations and advocacies to be part of. It has a mood chart and a health check that monitors quarterly. It's also my son's coloring book when we're waiting in line at the bank or doctor's offices.
Oh well, here's what my very well used Journal looks like, or shall I say, I'd take you to a peek at my 2009 life. And I'm sticking to it's concept as my journal for the coming 2010.

If only I could grab one more for 2010 from the guys that gave this for JOURNAL for FREE!

My 10 month old baby boy does wonders with his innocence and beauty

I will blog and brag about Johannes' milestones so when the time comes,at least,he'll get to read this. But please don't get me wrong, not all toddlers have the same activities at the same period of time.To each his own development. No such standards to be so normal.

What he does nowadays,let me count the ways;

1.Sitting alone and picking things to put in his mouth even slippers are bitten

2.Standing with full balance but in a short span of time

3.attempting to do 3 steps-maybe that true why they call it baby steps...

4.Strengthening his knees by doing up and down and multiple squats

5.clapping his hands for appreciation.with him, gone are the "close open" "align" "a tok" "apir" kiddie performances

6.While you rock him to sleep, he hums a lullabye to himself. But squeaks when he changes his positon in bed and demands to be pacified with a suck!

7.Dancing to "Billie Jean",the only Michael Jackson song he'd dance. No kidding, even if you play "Beat It" or "Black and White",no reaction to it. I guess it's his way of saying "those others?not my type, Ma"

8.Mumbling the titles "ati"(for ate)"lolo lolo lolo"(playing with his tongue) "papa" (upon seeing his papa arrive home from work)He rarely says "MAMA" and that saddens me.The only time we can hear him say it is when he is so uncomfortable or scared.Trying to be brave at first johannes?Kapag puno na ang salot,Nanay,SOS.

9.Oh and also he demands "didi" when he wants to be breastfed. Yup, I'm still lactating after Jayrob was born-5 years straight.Gosh!

10.With 4 teeth up and 2 down, don't bite my nipples yet but just keep smiling ,anak ,for you continue to amaze us all!

Pastor Clem Guillermo:Parenting 101

The Supreme Parents Council (SPC)of The Holy Redeemer School Of Kalookan(HRSK) in Franville V Caloocan City hosts Family days every year. But with Tita Cristy Esteras as the president for this school year,it was good she invited Pastor Clem Guillermo of the Back to the Bible Ministry to enlighten(and enlighten was I indeed)the parents of Grade 4 and high school student or shall I say, Apayao's family,as teacher Dory puts it.

At First,Ma'am Apayao welcomed us parents by sharing her reflections gained from the Ateneo workshop she attended:How is Family,Parent,Teacher Defined nowadays. She used the analogy that parents are teachers and those teachers are pencils-leaving a mark on the characters of each child.

Then Pastor Clem started the lecture with the topic on understanding your teens by understanding yourself. It all boils down to our Parenting "origin"(if we can call such)How were your parents with you? Now,How a Parent are you today?

More has been said but the jist of the 3 hour meeting were:
EQUAL MUTUAL RESPECT and ADAPTATION to each child you have.
Kids at the age of 3,5,7 are the most needy in terms of emotional and spiritual TOGETHERNESS.
Fathers must be involved.Leave a legacy and impact the holistic development of each child.
Mothers need to be HAPPY and be in love with thy self to create a happier atmosphere for all.

Needless to say,the family is the beginning of all good deeds.
Let us be AWARE so as not to have more "damaged" kids.
Let them grow.
Let them learn
Let them go.

Biyaya ng Buhay - Community Ritual

On Sunday, we are having a community ritual to bless the self and bless the Earth.

It is a time of releasing stress from both natural and human-made calamities we recently experienced and witnessed. And to remind ourselves once more that life, in its varied forms, offer so much blessing to us.

In a manner that is both creative and educative, we will learn more about climate change.

It will also serve as a 2nd-level de-briefing for people from Baranggay Silangan who were adversely affected by "Ondoy" for them, and each of us, to re-claim a positive perspective of creation.

Young people, teachers, social workers, counselors, church workers, those who need to heal from "Ondoy', healers and lovers of creation are invited..... .

Please e-mail back, call or text through the numbers provided above to reserve seats. Seats are limited.

Please pass.

Blessings,
Leah R. Tolentino
