MICHAEL JACKSON DEAD

Last week the kids loved playing the ROCK BAND UNPLUGGED at the PSP.
One song was "ABC" by the Jackson Five which Jar,my eldest, masters in the medium level.
They were asking me who the Jackson Five were and I mentioned the family members were MJ and even Randy Jackson from the American Idol and much more.
Then at MYX during the short VJ-ing of the band PUPIL,they saw the video of THRILLER and they were scared of the mummies.
Now that MJ looks real Wacko to them,he is even interesting for he is DEAD at 50.
We started to compute my age with the kids if I die at 50 too.
Jar would be 30,Jay 25,Jam 23 and Johannes 20
The mystery lies after the joy of preparing, planning a nd rehearsing for his FINAL CURTAIN This Is It Concert (John LAPUS ,was that your line?) at London,he is dead.
Some say of painkillers.
They really kill the pain because they stop the heart.
So I better lessen taking 50 mg of my painkiller everytime I get my tension headache .

Do you need to have all the symptoms to say that you have indeed been struck by it?
The kids get on and off FEVER...
One would have the COUGH but with no COLDS.
Or with COLDS but no COugh nor FEVER
I have the FEVER,MUSCLE PAIN,CHILLING and COUGH but no COLDS
IS that the AH1N1 craze?
Its getting all but normal.
No need to worry, not dying on a death bed yet.
All we need is INCREASE OUR FLUID INTAkE and eating HEALTHY FOODS and FRUITS galore!
Also.let's be sensitive to quarantine thyself and AVOID CROWDED PLACES.

MANDALA-writing Workshop

The Mandala is a circle with a center around which important and meaningful words are placed. As peaceful, positive thoughts and prayers are written in a circular way on a piece of paper (with concentric circles), one becomes attuned to the truth being imprinted while the power of the intention are poured into it. By using colored pens in writing and designing unique patterns, beautiful artistic Mandalas can be created. Completed works of Mandalas continuously send forth wonderful energy to us and to the environment.
Now -- more than ever-- is the time when each of us needs to become aware of the profound relationship that exists between our thought vibrations and the health and stability of the Earth.

To revive our ailing planet, each of us needs to infuse the earth with healing energy of our deep gratitude for all the earth's blessings... .

once again invite you to the

MANDALA-writing Workshop
Facilitated by Mr. Mario "Toots" Fungo

Date: June 21, 2009 (Sunday)

Time: 1:30 - 5:00pm

Place: The Peacemakers’ Circle
Rm. 105 PhilDHRRA Partnership Center
59 Salvador St., Varsity Hills
Loyola Heights, QC
(2 blocks from McDo-Shakey’s Katipunan across Ateneo gate 2 or across Miriam College)

Mandala is an old Sanskrit (Indian) word which means "circle." But as a spiritual art form, the mandala was popularized through the ancient traditions of Tibetan Buddhist monks who create colorful and intricate patterns in a circle out of colored sand and grains while praying. Today, it is adapted as a fun and creative art work through which adults and youth alike ( from any cultural or spiritual tradition) can generate vibrations of healing and positive affirmations of peace and gratitude towards fellow human beings, to nature and to God.

Please come and bring friends along!

Snacks or materials to share would be greatly appreciated.

Donations to help replenish the materials and sustain the free workshops are most welcome!

The Aliw-iw Dance Forum

Re posting...

The PAGASA Youth have partnered with Baybayin Craft and the University Student Council (USC) of UP Diliman to launch the first ever Dance Forum on June 14, from 3:00pm-6:00pm at the UP Sunken Garden (in and around)!

Walang usapan -- sayawan lang! The Dance forum hopes to start the process of re-enlivening the dancing spirit of the Filipino people...thus, expect a series of dance fora in different spaces and venues happening soon!

What's more exciting is that during the event, we will be launching the Liping Baybayin rhythm -- an original dance movement inspired by the ancient Filipino syllabary. Known as Sulat Baybayin and mistakenly called alibata, its roots can be traced to Pinoy consciousness. A group of 8 children from the foothills of Mt. Banahaw in Lucban, Quezon started to learn the dance last April 11, 2009 and will share their skill and knowledge during the dance forum.

So, come dance your heart out and connect to the Filipino dancing spirit!

See you there!

Definition of STRESS
Causes and Effects of STRESS

THE SEVEN WAYS of Dissolving Stress

ONE: Know and Live the WAY of POSTURE and MOVEMENT

We sit during most of the day, and we lie down all night. The way we sit and rest can bring harmony and relaxation to our body, despite the daily workload. We are stressed because we sit any way we want and we lie down any way we want.

TWO: Know and Live the WAY of QUIET TIME!

Stop. Sit down. Relax. It is all right to do nothing. It is not a sin. We are stressed because we keep on running around and not finishing much anyway. Paradox: when we do less, we actually do more.

THREE: Know and Live the WAY of MINDFULNESS!

Be present to the present; be aware of every moment. We must learn to just BE. We are stressed because we are either in the past or in the future. We are not in the present, so the body and the mind get confused, thus the stress. We are stressed because we DO and DO, we forget to BE.

FOUR: Know and Live the WAY of HIGHER CHOICE!

Each day, we have many chances to do what is right and light, what is better and higher, but what have been our choices? We always have a choice, and we have that power to choose what is best. We are stressed because we react and react to almost everything and everyone, leaving little room for choice. Or we make choices that bring us lower, and therefore, heavier.

DAY TWO
- Mini Lectures
- Individual and Small Group Exercises
- Big Group Exercises
- Sharing

FIVE: Know and Live the WAY of CHANGE!
What happens outside us is but a mirror of what is inside us. We attract everything. We reflect everything. Through the power of MANDALA writing, we can slowly begin to change from WITHIN, thus slowly changing what is outside us too. We are stressed because we want many people to change and many things to change, but without changing ourselves first.

SIX: Know and Live the WAY of UNIVERSAL ORDER and DETACHMENT!
Everything happens according to universal order. If it is meant to be, it shall be so. If it is not yet meant to be, then it shall be at the best time, in universal order. We do our best, then we just let things be. We give our all, then we assume a detached attitude to our wants. We are stressed because we want things our way, at our pace, at our manner, disregarding universal order. We are stressed because we are attached to things, people, position, results.

SEVEN: Know and Live the WAY of SELF-EXPRESSION!
We are the most unique individual in the whole universe. NO ONE is quite like us, whether before our time, at this present time, or for all time. We have singular gifts, each of us, and when we express it fully, we become who we truly are, we touch the world with our art and heart, we reach a finer state of being. We are stressed because we are preoccupied with many things such as work, home, school, church, community -- thus, giving no time to our most important task of co-creating the world through our talents.

ORGANIC

I started going organic after having the CS operation of the last baby.
I was looking for a more environment friendly DIAPER and true enough, baby Johannes kept me paranoid trying out with different variations: Huggies to Pro Kids to Pampers then EQ to Happy down to Smile.
But FYI, the best diaper, for the budget and Mother Earth are cloth diapers but the next step would be finding environment friendly laundry wash.
With that conscious effort ,it is indeed being a MOM-nurturing nature.
Going organic with your detergent and body care is not that rare anymore
Thanks to Tony Meloto of Gawad Kalinga because his daughter spearheaded the Gandang Kalikasan with human nature heart products.
It's not the diapers solved but you would find ORGANIC shampoos, conditioners, lip balms and kids care.
Visit their site at www.humanheartnature.com as I am planning not just to be a distributor, but also to live the lifestyle with much more parenting advocacy.

Is watching TV bad for babies?

A lot of debate surrounds this question. There have been doubts about how educational programs like “Brainy Baby” could really make a baby smarter. There have been speculations about how the rapid rhythm of TV commercials causes baby to become impatient and jumpy. On the other hand, television has grown to be such a part of daily life that some parents welcome TV time as break time for them and the baby. Television is also just one part of a lifestyle that unless viewed in excess can’t really be the main cause of baby development issues. Knowing all this, should we still let our babies watch TV?

My mom told me that when I was a baby, she’d sit me in my playpen for an hour or so while I would watch “Sesame Street.” Like many other children, I was fascinated with the characters and the catchy songs. When I was older I learned that my friends also went through a similar experience. Their parents would place them in front of the TV when “Sesame Street” would come on. I remember watching “Sesame Street” till I was in grade school. Over the years I had built such an affinity with the show because I really did learn something. More importantly, it helped me enjoy learning.

Here’s my take on TV for babies: It’s all right for as long as done in moderation. Babies and toddlers are like sponges. They are very eager to learn with their brains developing rapidly during their first two years. Engaging them in smart and playful activities helps them develop well. TV could be a part of this for as long as its use is monitored well by parents.

Expectations should also be managed. My 11-month-old enjoys watching “Brainy Baby” videos. He is at the stage where he appreciates how other children act. He mimics what they do, waving his hand when the kids in the show say goodbye. He gurgles and laughs when the babies do too. It’s fun and light educational TV. While educational programs like this can claim they help babies learn, I don’t rely solely on the DVDs to help sharpen my kid’s mind. What I like about programs like this is how they complement my child rearing style. I grew up on engaging and enjoyable educational programs, and I want my child to experience the same thing. They offer fun and variety without being overly stimulating.

Another critical point about watching TV with baby is that I don’t leave him alone. While you could strap down baby in his bouncer and pop the DVD in, it is much better when you sit together and interact. I find that my son enjoys it when I sing along to the show’s tunes and clap my hands to the beat. He becomes fascinated and tries to imitate me. Making educational TV a shared experience with baby is fun!

What about shows that aren’t meant for baby? I enjoy watching shows like “Wheel of Fortune” and “Jeopardy.” They’re not exactly shows for children, but they’re educational and non-violent. My son enjoys watching them too, and I like knowing that maybe he’ll learn his letters from solving word puzzles or grow up on trivia.

It can get tempting to turn the TV into a babysitter and I believe that’s where the negativity begins. I think using TV as a pacifier as well is a no-no. As building a relationship with TV does indeed start at a very young age, I feel it’s important to set boundaries. I certainly don’t want to let my baby grow up into a couch potato, so watching TV for hours at a time is not acceptable. From my experience, thirty minutes is fine. A baby’s attention span isn’t that long anyway, and he gets tired of watching after about half an hour.

I think a parent will know when too much TV is too much. It’s probably impractical to say “No TV at all” if TV has become part of a family’s lifestyle. What’s critical is that limits are set early on, such as what shows are to be watched and for how long the TV should stay on. With boundaries set and expectations managed, TV could actually help our babies indeed become a little more brainy. It could help him learn about the world around him, and could be a great complement to his main educator — his parents. I don’t think that’s such a bad thing at all.

Toni Tiu is hoping “Batibot,” one of her favorite children’s educational TV shows, comes back on air or at least comes out on DVD. She wishes to share with her baby some of her favorite “Batibot” moments — Kuya Bodjie’s storytelling, the “Bangkang Papel” song and the piece on how to make palitaw. Visit her personal blog at WifelySteps.com.
