Our Baby Jamiro had a butterfly on his head outside the confines of the supermarket.Odd huh?

And it added right away to Jay's questionings...

"Ma why is there a butterfly on Jamy's head?"
-because they say butterflies go where it smells so good. "Then why didn't they go to me?" Kasi anak, you did not take a bath,remember??

Then we all remembered that Jamy ate a vanilla twirl from Jollibee...

Maybe that's why the butterfly went to his head and stayed for a long time because he messed up and wipped his hair with the ice cream.

So the butterfly did not leave until I pinched both its wings and freed it.

"But Ma,you killed the butterfly by doing that!"Jay attested
No,Jay I let he butterfly live longer by letting it fly once more .

Then when their Papa arrived from work,Jay told him the lesson from the butterfly

But Jaro,the oldest said "Pa, Mama was able to let the butterfly fly again ,but like a crashing airplane,It was doing a Mayday Mayday and fell on the ground"

Wel aside from that,you see,nowadays we have lots of players to give their so called fast internet connection:Smart and Globe for Broadband and for the classic Dial up:ISP bonanza,and other Prepaid Internet cards.For those copper wires or what is known as the "lines"(DSL) you have PLDT's myDSL or Bayantel's DSL.Name it,their sign up booths are like mushrooms sprouting everywhere.

For instance,in the United States they have one of the many service providers topping it all.They Outsource in our country while bombarding their Filipino Technical Support Representatives with lots of metrics to maintain:excellent customer Service,how customers can be Promoters and what else can they say after the call,and of course, Customer satisfaction. Oh not to forget, that their subscriber must at least do not call within 7 days for the same issue or problem.What company would that be?I guess my lips are sealed for now...

Going back for the first of this series,when one can not connect to the internet,one would call the Online service Provider.Mind you,every type of service has a different Tech Support Number.But the point is that,Americans want technical support but guess what's their number one expectation?Most of them long to speak with an English Speaking cum technically trained Computer Engineer for their Internet access technical support over the phone.Or perhaps a magician would be better!

But first and foremost, please remember that the service will not work without having the following :
(Example 1:for a simple PC on A DSL connection)

1.your service provider and a qualified line (meaning you are A-OK from the signal and distance based on your house and the ISPs Central office)

2.your computer hard wired to the modem

3.a modem

4.RJ 11

5.Rj 45

6.microfilters (when dsl connection shares the phone line for s a phone unit too)

7.money for payment of service or else we have nothing to talk about anymore

My real estate broker said the check I issued to them bounced!
And I was so scared what might happen next. Would this be what they call estafa? Can I be acquitted because of negligence and ignorance? Oh my what would happen to me and my family? I can't really live to having a bad record you know.

But thank God.The bank said, I was a good riddance.Nah,kidding aside,no charges nor penalties for drama queens like me and that they knew how first timers are(or they just knew how I can't afford the amount of their new imposed maintaining balance). The account was closed because it was considered a mishandled account.

True to that,It's hard to meet their maintaining balance when you resigned from a promising career(poor me!). But as an excuse,this is the first time I had a current account with a sense and purpose-just so I could issue 24 months, meaning, 24 pieces of post dated bank checks (PDC) for my housing loan and it's monthly amortization.

At this point in life,it's amazing that we live in a low cost condominium and that I was able to avail of the Pag -ibigHousing Loan.Where to get it? Ask from your company's Compensation and Benefits or HR Dept. This is why you see a Php100 out form your pay every month as your membership and contribution.It's your company's "automatic" deductions from the pay you get every month aside from the SSS and Philhealth (which just passes but are indeed long term investments too which I'm planning to blog later on)

Well,I would just like to encourage young professionals to take this risks.Buy a "rent to own" or other housing unit,may you be single or married in life.Or if not just be aware that you can avail of our government's housing loan.They offer the lowest interest rates and longest payment scheme-up to 25 years to pay depending on your age.

It's one good asset and form of investment as early as now and pretty soon,you could plan other things to do with the property.

But I just want to remind you never to forget funding the current account or end up paranoid like me.

Jayrob,my middle child was asking me a lot of questions lately.

As a three year old he has been interested so much on so many questions about our body.

It's time for the birds and the bees...

1.Mama,why are our eyes round?so that you can see the whole world in all angles.

2.Mama,what is the use of ugat?So that you can have a fluid movement and be able to reach out.
(FYI,their father has radial nerve palsy so they know how hard it is to move with a destroyed nerve from arm down to the fingers .)

3.Why is there a hole in your tootoo?because that's where babies normally come out from birth.And that's somehow painful for moms yet cheaper>that was how you were delivered.
3.2 But why is it that there is a slice on your tummy?because when I gave birth to Jamyro(our youngest) he was so big that he can't come out from my tootoo so the doctors had to slice me up.

4.Why are mothers with breasts? First,we are called Mamas derived from the word "mamma"-ry glands where moms are able to produce milk so that we may provide you nourishment and protection from certain diseases when you drink from our milk.

5.Why do boys don't have what girls have?So that there will be differences, balance to complement,meaning to share and give back in this world.

Was I using the appropriate words and on the right track answering his queries?I guess so.

We watched American Idol Gives Back last night at QTV11 and it was way above its supposed to be air time.It ran from 1800hr until about 2030hr.

For a long call-in marathon,it was a pot of mixed emotions.
My kids can not understand what was the calling and asking a dollar for

I explained to them that some American artists have been very supportive on their chosen foundation.For example,Bradd Pit(who by the way had lost his lapel and made it that a realistic part of the show}supports the Make it Right movement for New Orleans It's a housing project for families challenged during hurricane Katrina two years ago.

It was also hard to explain to them how Africa with Bono,Annie Lennox,Celine Dion,Alicia Keys and others are fighting the AIDS virus.That's an issue I'm not confident explaining to an 8,3 and 1 year old that's why.

With the Malaria in Africa,somehow,my kids understood how dangerous mosquito bites are and promised to make their little surroundings clean.They wanted to ship mosquito nets but that's way too idealistic don't you think so?

It was moving and disheartening to see some American kids on gangs and areas which were classified as their so called below poverty line status quo but what my eldest said is that they got the true media attention they were after and for my son,he knew poverty as scarcity and by what was shown and can connect more to GMA's Vicky Morales' Wish Ko Lang That's the Filipino's real below poverty line drama basis.

All I could do is ask the kids to be patient,open and constructive while I am watching the show.I somehow stooped down and explained things to their level

But really now,how would my kids and say,the other Filipino kids understand what American poverty is?Ours is poorer than theirs.I can't dig deeper to the differences of the so called First and Thirld Worlds any longer.

Or maybe for their little minds,poverty is indeed a state of mind and is just merely subjective

Unless we have adequate food to eat and clean water to drink,it is indeed one's choice to be poor

I have come to my senses then that our beloved Philippines is not yet in it's last straw

And after seeing and hearing the instant enlightenment from my impatient yet insightful kids ,I know our country will never go to the ditch.They are ideally responsible to make poverty turn around and BE more than it has to offer.

Also,watching the grandchildren of former President Cory Aquino during Rhea Santos' interview,indeed,the youth of the Philippines are so aware and are empowered.Astonishing leadership values.

Please make your kids be proactive and reflective on everyday happenings aside from instilling in them how the world works.

And let us all be sensitive to each other's conditions.

Twist the Rice

Rumors has it that the Philippines is experiencing scarcity in the rice supply but let's leave it to the Authorities to settle the issue.

From my end, what we could do is to lessen our rice intake or still use what was left from dinner(but be sure it still can be eaten) and cook it with a twist.
Make it the infamous sinangang minatamis or the best champorado to brighten up the morning.

And when I say champorado, ours is a champorado filled with Nestle products:Milo and Carnation evaporated or condensed milk.
Come to think of it,hmmm Nestle should also come up to complete the chain with their own brown sugar packaging ?

For the mixture,the kids and I,we normally use Milo for the chocolate because that comes in handy and it is more nutritious than the cocoa powder.
To sweeten it,we add brown sugar.(remember,anything brown means its closer being unprocessed and that makes it better than white!)

Now put the fire on and add in the cooked riced.For 25 minutes, keep stirring.When the grains popped,that's good to go.Serve this and pour some of the milk on top.Be creative on the milk pattern

My kids love this hyper champorado .It's their sugar boost for the day.

Then more and more Nestle products consumed within the day until bedtime even.

I recently resigned from the "5-min-away-from-home-pioneer call center remember?

WHY?

because I am now guarding,withdrawing and empowering my eldest who used to be always out of the house and going to the computer shop even if I always tell the yaya not to allow him

because with the yaya before,my second son is so frail and has poor appetite being poorly and almost not fed on time

and because my youngest was always carried as the yaya's form of rest and so up until now,even if he is turning 2, he likes to be cuddled and carried all the time

or simply because it's time to be WITH MY three beastie boys as they need me more.

And aside from the fact that their yaya did not return from her day off

So please bear with me if I write a journal with all the simple yet wonderful things I will be discovering with my children

and thank you for clicking this pages to help me earn money and my sanity

So what would make me earn a living nowadays? to Observe and blog the U.P. way but What's the U.P. way anyways?

I guess all I can do now is to be a Work at Home mom.But after numerous attempts, all the postings has been taken out now.It's not far from having the limited slots available for the units and subjects you have to get in U.P.: University of Pila oh, I meant University of the Philippines.Those were the days when they were starting to experiment and use the hi-tech registration.So during my freshmen years,I was still part of that oldie group of "Reg-liners"!

I remember all the slots posted in the old Comm III room IN U.P. and for the U.P. way of registering on subjects,you must be a risk taker.Or be at U.P. as early as 5am,against the residents of Narra and Kalayaan dorms.It's best if you have a couple of money to pay bribe to your friends and blockmates who live in those Residence Halls.

Now ,when you are at the registration arena,just indian sit and stay on the line to get the subject for the semester.Come in pretty and smiling for the girls .And be rugged and friendly if you are one of the boys.

By the way,U.P. graduates and students,add those in Open U ,masters and PHDs are all bragging about the centennial celebration.I was in hiatus!I believe I need not be a centennial aspect.I only would want to suggest to brag it by printing a shirt!Not just all the maroon and white shirts you'd see with the centennial logo-hello pipol,how "un-U.P." you all are!It looks so conformist!Hello po,pang P.E. shirt po ba ito?Wala na bang ibang pwede pang malayang iprinta?Wala na bang statement sa tshirt pa?

Or maybe that's how the U.P. studentry turned out to be huh?Saying okay to poor designs?!@#!@#&*^#@%

Aside from the reputation and the studentry,I believe I'm more nostalgic about the halls,the Oblation and its mosses,the old Narra seats,sunken garden grasses and the acacia tree-that's what U.P. is all about.These what makes U.P. a hundred years beautiful!

We ,the students and graduates of U.P. come and go,some are now dead of course, but what's more worthy of being part of the "centennial" is each U.P. units' environment-that's the only 100 years old worth celebrating,preserving and treasuring!
