just posting.....

It's a mad, mad day on April 25 as Instituto Cervantes lets out the books at the Día del Libro celebrations. From 10 am to 12 midnight, bibliophiles can get their hands on a wide selection of books – children and young adult titles, dictionaries, novels, and non-fiction titles – at the Día del Libro book fair! Available at even madder prices, brand new books go for as low as Php20.00. And to make the deal even sweeter, Instituto Cervantes gives a red rose with every purchase. Also get a chance to mingle with your favorite authors as they grace this event, signing copies of their latest works. Anvil Publishing, A Different Bookstore, and Powerbooks are also there, offering books at a huge 20% discount! In addition to all these, get to taste the rich Spanish culture with poetry readings, film showings, and a dance concert featuring renowned choreographer and dance master, Myra Beltran. Free Spanish lessons and guided tours await visitors during this whole day event. In the evening, Instituto Cervantes transforms into party central as fabulous dance performances, overflowing Spanish food, and festive Latin music cap off Día del Libro. All this is in celebration of Día Internacional del Libro (International Book Day), an event that aims to promote the love for reading and the written word. Regularly observed on the 23rd of April, International Book Day was inspired by a tradition from Barcelona, Spain that celebrates St. George's Day, where men and women exchange a rose for the gift of a book.

twtAd is a relatively new site that pays you to tweet ads on Twitter. You need to have at least 25 followers to tweet the ads for twtAd. Yesterday it was 50 followers you needed but they have changed it to 25 to make it more accessible to everyone. Also you should only tweet the ads every couple days or not more than once a day to keep your Twitter account in good standing. You don't want to be accused of spamming. Although you can tweet the ads up to 3 times a day.

It's easy to tweet ads, you just find the one you'd like to tweet and click the link where it says "click here to tweet". You can also use more than one Twitter profile to publish ads through twtAd.

So far it looks like most twtAds pay $0.01 to $0.07 per ad clicked. Once you reach a balance of $20.00 you can request a payout. Payouts are made through PayPal. If you don't have a PayPal account, you can get one here, PayPal

What started as a small intimate concert nine years ago is now recognized as the biggest environmental themed concert in the country. Lou Bonnevie in a presscon at Hard Rock Café talked about how “Earth Day Jam” began almost a decade ago. This year, the concert will feature more than 20 musicians and artists such as Cynthia Alexander, Noel Cabangon and Kalayo (formerly Pinikpikan), Barbie Almalbis, Delara (formerly Mojofly), pop sensation Nina, Callalily, Rivermaya, SugarFree, Hale, Rocksteddy, The Dawn, Itchy Worms, Sino Sikat, Julianne, Bembol Rockers, The Bloomfields and many more. The free concert will once again be held today at Tomas Morato Ave. starting at 7 p.m.

Earth Day Jam 2009

It will begin with an astonishing drum ensemble for the “World Drum” that has traveled many countries to represent world peace.

“Earth Day Jam” began nine years ago as a quest of one artist to bring more relevance and meaning to her own career. Lou Bonnevie wanted to use her talent and fame to promote environmental protection. She said, “I don’t want to expose myself for the sake of being famous. There has to be something deeper to it than that. I wanted to use that effort and fame for something I believe in.” Even her current album “Only Human” that was recently launched reflects her convictions. In 2007, Lou was awarded the Fr. Satur Neri Award by the National Commission on Culture and the Arts and UNESCO for the success of “Earth Day Jam.”
