How do you get your message across a global, virtual environment where a deluge of information is triggered by a click of a key or mouse? Learn how to write for online readers with this basic course on online writing by Palanca Award winner Luis Katigbak.

This course will concentrate on writing effectively for the web. It will discuss topics such as structuring content, different writing styles, crafting catchy headlines or titles, writing material for a specific audience, maximizing this vehicle to attract your target readers, and others. Participants will also be given exercises to try their hand at creating their own web space.

Palanca Award winner Luis Joaquin M. Katigbak is a contributing editor for Burn Magazine and writes two weekly columns, "Luis Listens" and "The King of Nothing To Do," for Manila Bulletin. His two books, The King of Nothing to Do, a collection of essays, and Happy Endings, a collection of short stories, were nominated at the National Book Awards. Mr. Katigbak has worked as a senior web editor at Smart Communications and as the editor-in-chief of Pulse.ph, an online music magazine.

Workshop fee is P4,000 inclusive of handouts, materials, snacks, and certificate. Equipment is not included. Participants can bring their own laptop or opt to rent laptops from FHL for an additional fee of P1,000. A down payment of P500 is required to reserve a slot. The deadline for reservations is June 8, 2009. A 10 percent discount will be given to those who pay in full on or before June 1, 2009.
