When Martin was chosen by Manny Pacquiao's camp to sing the Philippine National Anthem,it was said to be a "smallrole" but it turned big indeed 1
Was he to sing it or perform it his own way?
When an artit is tasked to sing the Lupang Hinirang, one must remember, the essence of the song is not just for a performance,it is "The National Anthem"-the country.
I am a purist and conservative to this issue.
WHen I heard Martin's singing at the Pacquiao Hatton fight in youtube yesterday(which I did not fully watched over the tv because i boycotted commercials) it's still with the "marcha" rythym-okay pa
But the background music was synthesized and lots of bass was its musical arrangement and I dear say,it's way way off!
Even the visuals using the Philippine Airlines was too commercialist.
Can't they just edit and add National Tourists spots aside from the tycon's airline business?
Then came the ending..."Ang mamatay ng dahil...sa yo"-was Martin on the right pitch?
My god,I couldn't take it.Kaya pala nakakakilabot daw.I felt embarassed!
I told my 9 year old son, that's not the way its being sung hijo.
Then me and my husband argued about it but a seal was shown.
A seal???
Yup ni approved the singing afterall, san ka pa?
But just today ,according to the National Historical Institute Teddy Atienza,THEY WERE NOT CONSULTED AND THAT THEY NEVER APPROVED of Martin's rendition.
So where did the seal, the one shown after the youtube flick and TV telecast came from?
Whose National Historical Institute approval was that?
True,to lessen the guilt just make a public apology.
