A little history of why we are not just into the fad....
My eldest son received the Lightning Thief book from his Tita Pia this Christmas. He started to read it after we told him there's an upcoming movie of the book when we saw the trailer while watching The Avatar at the cinema.
When he was close to finishing the last pages ,we all went to watch it at the big screen (plus our story of a big rat at the moviehouse sneeking at our snacks)Anyways, he knew the names of the Gods and even criticized the revisions in scenes.
The Camaro, the pen before the horn, gifts and no Nancy bullying Percy and Grover.
But Uma thurman was a beautiful "Auntie Em' without the burgers and her head ws not boxed to the God's office but in the movie,was stored in the ref signaling a part two.
Pearce Brosnan was the towering Mr. Brunner but he did not give the pen, it should've been Luke.
Also, the Fates were not mentioned, the twist, the chase and mists for Mr Dodds, even characters were either ommitted or added.
So typical Hollywood!
Well, at least the kids had a taste of Greek mythology and now believes in the concept of the Underworld and other forces of the World.

The U.P. Fair 2010 in Diliman
The U.P. Diliman University Student Council (USC) presents The U.P. Fair, the week-long celebration at the Sunken Garden packed with concerts, shows, booths, bazaars, rock climbing, mini "perya" and sometimes booze.
I always see to it that me and my husband attend the fair ,purchasing the "real" ticket, not he ones re printed or sold by scalpers, because that's our little way of giving back and supporting each new USC.
The nights will feature one national issue just in time for the 2010 national elections: environment, good governance, internal war, and so on.
Here are what's in store for us all. It never ceases to amaze us how to observe the new roster of student body: how they get to organize ,commercialize and protect the UP legacy.

Creative Juices
Last night, we,as in 2 adults and 4 kids, all went to witness the Backdoor Ventures Music and Arts Festival. The kids loved the Cosplayers who were left there, still there from a 3pm stint, doing the action once you drop a coin. I pity them because it should not be just P5 to move, it should be more than a coin.
Anyways, Johannes ,who just turned one, cried looking at the Cosplayers but he clapped and kept dancing with the songs by Blue Jean Junkies and Drip.
We also saw the Abay's family artworks:cabinet,guitar and Awit's tautauhan. Nice! A true symbol of family bonding and everyone's keen on details a true reflection of mom Ninj and Dong's. They are indeed all creative.
we also got to see old friends who were also co musicians now moving on from the Goth-Progressive Music scene, they too have their own booth selling their creations. Check JC's Madman line
It nice to be at the Fest for a break! rekindle with Arts that is!

PSI Youth Camp 2: A Summer Adventure for Teens
Geared toward teenagers from 13-19 years old, the PSI Youth Camp is designed to equip the youth with an experience that is fun, adventurous and meaningful. Through the PSI Youth Camp, the creative energies of teenagers are directed towards positive self-development, leadership and goal-setting. This way, their path to adulthood becomes purposeful and meaningful.
In this two and a half day camp, they experience themselves going for their goals, exhibiting their greatness, and making new life-long friendships that will reinforce the values they have learned through this powerful and memorable shared experience.

Skin Product for the Filipinos made by a Filipino
They say Leyende is the story of the skin,I say,Leyende is more than the brainchild of my Grade School friend ,multi awarded poet and writer Neva Kares,it's our re-bonding moment.It's nice to see friends come up with new products,organic products that is.Hats off to her and others who would come up with brilliant ideas,materialize it yet making the world a real better ,clean , plastic free place to live in more.
Leyende sells online but now Neva has her store at Sanfo Treats Dessert Bar, Glorietta 4 Makati and soon at Sm Fairview's SODA .
I haven't tried the product but it's what I've been searching for-a semi cure or a wholistic cure to my Jay's skin asthma.
I hope I will soon be reselling Leyende skin products.
